지우펀 옛거리의 역사

The History of Jiufen Old Street
Jiufen Old Street has a rich history dating back to the Qing Dynasty, when gold was discovered in the area. The town was originally divided into nine sections, hence the name "Jiufen" which means "nine portions" in Chinese. During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan in the early 20th century, Jiufen became a hub for the mining industry. However, after World War II and the decline of the mining industry, Jiufen fell into decline.
It wasn't until the 1980s that Jiufen began to be revitalized, thanks to the popularity of a Japanese manga series set in the town. Today, Jiufen Old Street is a vibrant, bustling tourist destination, with lots of things to see, do, and eat.
Things to See and Do
When you visit Jiufen Old Street, there are several sights you absolutely can't miss. One of the most famous is the A-Mei Tea House, which has a stunning view of the mountains and the ocean. It's also said to have been the inspiration for the bathhouse in the movie "Spirited Away." Another must-see attraction is the Shengping Theater, which was built in the 1930s and is one of the few remaining Japanese-style theaters in Taiwan.
If you're interested in the history of the town, make sure to check out the Jiufen Visitor Center. Here, you can learn about the town's mining history and see artifacts from the past. Additionally, there are several temples in the area, including the Jiufen Old Street Temple and the Shengping Theater Temple, that are worth a visit.
Finally, don't forget to wander the streets and take in the charming traditional architecture. The narrow alleyways are lined with red lanterns and traditional shops selling all kinds of souvenirs and snacks.

Reviews
I had such a great time exploring Jiufen Old Street and trying all the delicious snacks. The taro balls from A-Mei Tea House were definitely a highlight for me, and I loved the view from the tea house as well. Grandma Lai's taro balls were also really tasty and had a great texture.
The Ah Lan Hakka Glutinous Rice Cakes were a bit heavier, but still delicious and filling. And of course, the Jiufen Fuzhou Black Pepper Buns were a must-try. They were so flavorful and satisfying.
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Jiufen Old Street if you're in Taiwan. The history and traditional architecture are fascinating, and the food is absolutely delicious. Make sure to come hungry!
