대만의 역사는 수천 년에 걸친 인간 거주와 다양한 강대국의 식민화를 아우르는 복잡하고 매혹적인 역사입니다. 이 섬은 약 6,000년 전에 오스트로네시아 부족에 의해 처음 정착되었으며 나중에 청나라 때 중국 제국의 일부가 되었습니다.

19세기 후반 청일전쟁에서 청나라가 패한 후 시모노세키조약으로 대만은 일본에 할양되었다. 이 기간 동안 일본은 대만의 인프라와 경제를 현대화했지만 엄격한 동화 정책을 시행하고 강제 노동을 사용했습니다.

2. 지우펀 옛 거리

주소: 대만 신베이시 루이팡구 지우펀 224

역사: 지우펀은 일본 식민지 시대에 금광 마을이었습니다. 좁은 골목길과 오래된 건물들이 지금은 인기 관광지가 되었고, 영화 '센과 치히로의 행방불명'의 배경이 되었다고 합니다.

음식: A-Mei Tea House는 지우펀에서 꼭 방문해야 할 곳입니다. 그들은 차와 고구마 볼, 떡과 같은 대만 전통 간식을 제공합니다. 가격은 합리적이며 산이 내려다 보이는 전망은 숨이 막힐 정도입니다.

3. 일월담

역사: Sun Moon Lake는 대만에서 가장 큰 수역이며 아름다운 경치로 유명합니다. 이 지역은 대만의 원주민 그룹 중 하나인 타오 부족의 고향입니다.

음식: 일월담 주변에는 생선, 새우, 게와 같은 신선한 해산물을 제공하는 여러 레스토랑이 있습니다. 가격은 다소 가파를 수 있지만 음식의 품질은 훌륭합니다.

4. 타로코 국립공원

주소: 972 Taiwan Hualien County Xiulin Township

역사: Taroko National Park는 Liwu River에 의해 형성된 자연의 경이로움인 Taroko Gorge의 이름을 따서 명명되었습니다. 공원에는 영원한 봄 신사를 비롯한 여러 하이킹 코스와 명승지가 있습니다.

음식: 타로코 국립공원 입구 근처에 돼지고기 밥과 우육면과 같은 전통 대만 요리를 제공하는 여러 레스토랑이 있습니다. 가격은 합리적이고 음식은 맛있습니다.

5. 장개석 기념관

주소: 대만 타이베이시 중정구 중산남로 21호 100

역사: 장개석 기념관은 중화민국 전 대통령을 기리기 위해 건립된 국가 기념물입니다. 홀에는 장개석의 대형 동상이 있으며 주변 정원은 피크닉과 산책을 즐기기에 좋은 장소입니다.

음식: 장개석 기념관 근처에는 취두부와 프라이드 치킨 커틀릿과 같은 대만 전통 길거리 음식을 제공하는 여러 음식 노점상이 있습니다. 가격도 저렴하고 간단한 간식으로 먹기에 딱 좋은 음식입니다.

 Addiction Aquatic Development는 가장 신선한 해산물을 제공하는 해산물 시장 및 레스토랑입니다.

2. 라오허 야시장

주소: Raohe Street, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 105

가격: 가격은 주문하는 항목에 따라 다르지만 대부분의 요리는 NT$50-150(US$1.8-5.5)입니다.

라오허 야시장은 맛있는 길거리 음식과 활기찬 분위기로 유명한 타이베이에서 가장 인기 있는 야시장 중 하나입니다. 내가 가장 좋아하는 것 중 일부는 돼지고추 빵, 프라이드 치킨 스테이크, 버블티를 포함합니다. 혼잡할 수 있지만 꼭 방문할 가치가 있습니다.

3. Elephant Mountain

역사: 코끼리 산은 타이베이에서 인기 있는 하이킹 장소로 도시와 타이베이 101의 멋진 전망으로 유명합니다. 올라가는 데 몇 분, 길을 따라 여러 전망대가 있습니다.

음식: 하이킹 후에는 Addiction Aquatic Development(위에서 언급) 또는 Xinyi District의 인근 레스토랑 중 한 곳에서 간단한 식사를 하는 것이 좋습니다.

4. 스린 야시장

가격: 가격은 주문하는 항목에 따라 다르지만 대부분의 요리는 NT$50-150(US$1.8-5.5)입니다.

스린 야시장은 타이베이의 또 다른 유명한 야시장으로 길거리 음식과 쇼핑으로 유명합니다. 내가 가장 좋아하는 노점에는 굴 오믈렛, 오징어 구이, 취두부가 있습니다. 둘러볼 수 있는 의류 및 기념품 가게도 많이 있습니다.

5. 베이터우 온천

주소: Beitou District, Taipei City, Taiwan 112

역사: Beitou는 일본 식민지 시대에 개발된 온천으로 유명합니다. 이 지역은 현재 여러 온천 리조트와 대중목욕탕, 온천의 역사를 전시하는 박물관이 있는 곳입니다.

음식: 온천에 몸을 담근 후에는 베이터우 소세지와 온천수에 익힌 온천 계란과 같은 지역 별미를 맛보는 것을 추천합니다.

A must visit place in Taiwan

The history of Taiwan is a complex and fascinating one, spanning thousands of years of human habitation and colonization by various powers. The island was first settled by Austronesian tribes around 6,000 years ago, and later became part of the Chinese empire during the Qing dynasty.

In the late 19th century, Taiwan was ceded to Japan as part of the Treaty of Shimonoseki following China's defeat in the First Sino-Japanese War. During this period, Japan modernized Taiwan's infrastructure and economy, but also imposed strict assimilation policies and used forced labor.

After World War II, Taiwan was returned to Chinese control, but the Kuomintang (KMT) government fled to the island after losing the Chinese Civil War to the Communist Party of China. Under the KMT, Taiwan became a one-party state and experienced rapid economic growth, known as the "Taiwan Miracle."

In the 1980s, Taiwan began a transition to democracy, with the first direct presidential election taking place in 1996. Today, Taiwan is a vibrant democracy and one of the most prosperous economies in Asia, with a rich cultural heritage and a unique identity that blends Chinese, Japanese, and indigenous influences. However, Taiwan's relationship with China remains a source of tension, with Beijing claiming sovereignty over the island and pressuring other countries to not recognize it as an independent state.

 

1. Taipei 101

Address: No. 7, Section 5, Xinyi Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan 110 History: Taipei 101 used to be the tallest building in the world until 2010. It is now a popular landmark in Taipei and features an observation deck on the 89th floor, offering panoramic views of the city. Food: Din Tai Fung, a famous Michelin-starred restaurant chain, has a location on the ground floor of Taipei 101. They are known for their delicious soup dumplings (xiao long bao).

2. Jiufen Old Street

Address: Jiufen, Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 224

History: Jiufen used to be a gold mining town during the Japanese colonial period. Its narrow alleyways and old buildings are now a popular tourist spot, and it was said to be the inspiration behind the movie "Spirited Away." Food: A-Mei Tea House is a must-visit spot in Jiufen. They serve tea and traditional Taiwanese snacks such as sweet potato balls and mochi. Prices are reasonable, and the view overlooking the mountains is breathtaking.

3. Sun Moon Lake

Address: Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan 555 History: Sun Moon Lake is the largest body of water in Taiwan and is known for its scenic beauty. The area is home to the Thao tribe, one of the aboriginal groups in Taiwan. Food: There are several restaurants around Sun Moon Lake that serve fresh seafood such as fish, prawns, and crabs. Prices can be a bit steep, but the quality of the food is excellent.

4. Taroko National Park

Address: Xiulin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan 972 History: Taroko National Park is named after the Taroko Gorge, a natural wonder that was formed by the Liwu River. The park is home to several hiking trails and scenic spots, including the Eternal Spring Shrine. Food: There are several restaurants near the entrance of Taroko National Park that serve traditional Taiwanese dishes such as braised pork rice and beef noodles. Prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious.

5. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

Address: No. 21, Zhongshan South Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100 History: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a national monument that was built to honor the former president of the Republic of China. The hall features a large statue of Chiang Kai-shek, and the surrounding gardens are a popular spot for picnics and strolls. Food: There are several food vendors near Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall that serve traditional Taiwanese street food such as stinky tofu and fried chicken cutlets. Prices are affordable, and the food is perfect for a quick snack.

5 Places to See, Play, and Eat

As a woman in my early 20s who recently visited Taiwan, I also highly recommend these five places to see, play, and eat:

Review: Raohe Night Market is one of the most popular night markets in Taipei, known for its delicious street food and lively atmosphere. Some of my favorites include the pork pepper buns, fried chicken steak, and bubble tea. It can get crowded, but it's definitely worth a visit.

3. Elephant Mountain

Address: Lane 150, Section 5, Xinyi Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan 110 History: Elephant Mountain is a popular hiking spot in Taipei, known for its stunning views of the city and Taipei 101. The trail takes about 20-30 minutes to climb, and there are several lookout points along the way. Food: After the hike, I recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Addiction Aquatic Development (mentioned above) or one of the nearby restaurants in Xinyi District.

4. Shilin Night Market

Address: No. 101, Jihe Road, Shilin District, Taipei City, Taiwan 111 Menu Prices: Prices vary depending on what you order, but most dishes range from NT$50-150 (US$1.8-5.5). Review: Shilin Night Market is another popular night market in Taipei, known for its street food and shopping. Some of my favorite food stalls include the oyster omelette, grilled squid, and stinky tofu. There are also plenty of clothing and souvenir shops to browse through.

5. Beitou Hot Springs

Address: Beitou District, Taipei City, Taiwan 112 History: Beitou is known for its hot springs, which were developed during the Japanese colonial period. The area is now home to several hot spring resorts and public baths, as well as a museum that showcases the history of the hot springs. Food: After soaking in the hot springs, I recommend trying some of the local delicacies such as Beitou sausage and hot spring eggs, which are cooked in the hot spring water.

Overall, Taiwan is a wonderful destination for travelers of all ages and interests. Whether you're interested in food, history, or nature, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
